Seed Starting Using Soil Blocking and Winter Sowing
Taught by Elizabeth Pitzer. The cost is $40.
Learn two easy and space-saving ways to start seeds at home for your springtime planting. Starting your own seeds allows you to develop plants adapted to your individual garden conditions. It also allows you to select from a vast number of plants that are simply not available in most garden centers. Elizabeth will demonstrate the techniques of both Soil Blocking and winter sowing, and then help participants put together their own soil blocks and winter sowing mini “greenhouse” made from a milk jug. Go home with a clam shell box containing two soil blocks (total of 40 planted seeds) and a mini greenhouse containing up to a few dozen planted seeds.
